June 12, 2009 @ 8:00pm

Church of the Good Shepherd, Nashua, NH

Jimi James, baritone from Syracuse, NY, returns to NH to sing Songs of Travel, a song cycle of nine songs originally written for baritone voice. He will be offering opera arias and music theatre songs as well. Jimi will be accompanied by Anna Maria Dwyer, a pianist/vocalist, who has been accompanying singers and productions for the last ten years in Southern NH and the Boston area.

Jimi James, from Granite State Opera's La Traviata, sang the role of Germont (2008). Before that he took the stage as Lucia's brother Enrico, in Lucia di Lammermoor. In awe, audience members were on their feet in applause for both performances. Jimi also was here in January 2009, debuting as artistic director and also singing King Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Every time Jimi has sung in NH, he has impressed audiences with his rich, resonant voice and his commanding stage presence.

Anna Maria Dwyer, pianist and founder of Music Arts Alive, is producing her third concert. Anna, a Londonderry, NH resident, produced Amahl and the Night Visitors and also sung the lead role as The Mother (January 2009). Ms. Dwyer has played piano for Granite State Opera, Boston Conservatory, Plymouth State University and many other schools, theatre groups and private students. Later this year she will be joining the Treble Chorus of New England as their opera pianist. Anna is known for being able to follow a singer and make them feel at ease. She also possesses strong sight reading skills which has landed her many last minute jobs.

Her company, originally called Mermaid Music Productions, will be bringing Amahl and the Night Visitors back in 2010. Anna is also working on a new project called "Film Grooves", an interactive series that lets audience members guess movie titles based on what they are hearing. The concerts will feature musicians that have a passion for music and the ability to stay true to the music.
